Britten was working concurrently at three films for Arthur Elton (1906-1973) at the British Commercial Gas Association during September 1935: Dinner hour, Men behind the meters and How gas is made. Composition for all three took place between 2 Sep and 13 Sep and they were all recorded on 16 Sep 1935.
