Commentator, whistler, chorus (SATB) - fl, picc, cl in B flat, cl in A - perc (trgl, susp cymb, cymb, wb, sd, bd) - 2 pf
A percussion sequence accompanying the commentator comprises the following, laid out in four groups:
1. side drum, block, triangle, cymbal, bass drum, gong
2. chains, 2 coconut shells, large drill, cup in bucket of water, sandpaper
3. sandpaper, trip gear, notched wood & wooden stick, sheet of metal & wooden mallet
4. wooden whistle, small cart on sandy asbestos, small drill, rewinder, hooter, chains.
Music written to accompany the film of the same name, which was directed and written by Alberto Cavalcanti (1897-1982) for the GPO Film Unit.
