Dedication: Written for Martin Hürlimann's 60th birthday.

Martin Hürlimann (1897-1984), Swiss photographer and, with his wife Bettina, directors of the publishers Atlantis Verlag, who published Eric Walter White's biography of Britten in 1948. Bettina Hürlimann notes in her autobiography that Britten sent the birthday gift to her husband almost a year after his actual birthday on 12 Nov 1957.
