One of five arrangements of the French folk songs that Britten made specifically for the baritone Martial Singher. It is in the same key as the high-voice original.

The five orchestral arrangements were originally performed in the following order:

1 Fileuse, 2 Le roi s'en va-t'en chasse, 3 La belle est au jardin d'amour, 4 Eho! Eho! and 5 Quand j'étais chez mon père.
