Notes

Apart from Britten's original music, the score also includes a small number of self-borrowings, one of them from the Rossini arrangements made for the film The Tocher (see Rossini suite). Towards the end of 'Calendar of the year' there is a sequence of Christmas music performed by voices to the accompaniment of a Salvation Army band with organ. The manuscript full score is missing.
