         Description	Fair copy situated on the top two systems of the page. Britten has retrospectively (c. 1933-4) written '1922' at the top of the page. However, the handwriting and compositional style suggest an earlier date of circa 1921. Bars 3-8 are crossed out. Underneath the piece there is a short paragraph in Britten's handwriting about harmonic and melodic minor keys. There are also some jottings which are probably by his composition teacher at the time, Ethel Astle.
