Notes

Arranged along with Hark the ech'ing air! and Not all my torments for performances by Peter Pears in Moscow and Leningrad in March 1963. They were followed on these occasions by So when the glittering queen of night and 'Tis holiday - sound fame thy brazen trumpet from the Suite of songs from Orpheus Britannicus. Britten had intended to replace the latter two songs with two new items to create a second suite of Purcell realizations for voice and orchestra.
